Personality
Robin can be described as one of the calmer members of the Strawhat crew. She’s quiet and reserved, only speaking out whenever there’s something going on. She doesn’t participate in the sillier antics of the crew, though she doesn’t discourage it either. She can be found either reading on the ship or talking with one her crewmates. It could be easy to assume that she doesn’t notice anything around her when she does. She’s one of the most observant members of the crew. She makes sure that nothing important gets lost or that they don’t end up in immediate danger. She cares very much about the people in her life that she will go to any lengths to protect them.
It’s not easy to get to know Robin. Due to her past she keeps her heart very guarded that she will only open up to people that she can completely trust. When she does manage to trust someone she becomes their loyal friend, ready to offer her help to them. She doesn’t think it’s possible for anyone to trust someone they just met without an ulterior motive. She assumes that someone will want something out of their partnership, so she tries to ready herself for when it will happen. When it turns out that person doesn’t want anything from her, she’s not sure how to react. Someone being sincere is one of the easiest ways to catch her by surprise. And she’s someone who doesn’t get caught of guard very easily. However, after working with so many people that wanted something from her, finding someone that doesn’t feel fake. She’ll believe it once her surprise wears off.
Despite her calm, reserved image she actually has a very active imagination. There are times she will imagine something silly such as sitting on the backs of the stronger members of her crew while they swim across the ocean. However, no one will ever know what she’s thinking cause of her poker face. She has the best poker face, being able to hide her silly thoughts really well. She also enjoys macabre humor. She doesn’t shy away from talking about the gruesome ways someone could die. She might not be one of the silliest members of the crew, though she has her moments.
Robin also laughs at the face of danger. There’s isn’t much that scares her, only in extreme cases does she become scared such as when her life was in danger or when Kuma separated her from her crew. Other than that she mostly laugh at the situations where other members of the crew find scary. Robin finds a lot of things amusing that might shock or scare others. She doesn’t get angry very often when she does watch out cause she will let you know. Some of the easiest ways to get her angry is to put her crew in danger, destroy a book, or disrespect history. History is something that she’s very passionate about. It’s her dream to discover the true history of the world. It’s a dream that’s kept her going after the destruction of her island, along with being labeled as a fugitive at the age of eight, that she won’t let anyone get in the way of it. However, she’s more than happy to share her knowledge about the world or offer a book for anyone who’s looking for something new to read.
Robin is the mom friend that someone didn’t know they needed. She’s very good at taking care of others. She’s also great with children, she’s always ready to give them a smile, even if that smile is to hide her pain. She does her best to make sure that no one gets saddled with her problems, often hiding so she can go off to settle them by herself. It takes a lot for her to admit that she needs help, when she does finally admit it then she can accept it.
Underneath Robin’s calm and reserved demeanor lies a woman with a strong will to live, a passion for her dream that rivals the crew’s own, and a silly side that she perfectly hides behind her poker face. It might take awhile to get through her exterior, however when she lets you in you will find a compassionate person that cares for the special people in her life very much. When Nico Robin considers someone a friend they will have someone who will be by their side no matter happens.
