[ Kon realizes, almost a full ten days later, that he hasn't told Robin that he's not going to be going to classes. And then he realizes it's going to be more than a week that he's going to be gone. So he goes to text her. And then he sees that she's... she's on Retrospec???

[The first three days Robin didn't think much of it. She knew Kon would be busy with his own thing, she didn't want to bother him too much, however when those days stretched out into a week she became concerned. Normally he would tell her if he's going to be out or if something is wrong when she hasn't received anything. Robin has tried to keep her cool, until she hears his ringtone that she puts her book down to answer his text.

He called her boss. How sweet.]

[ There's a small cringe as he scratches his cheek with the end of his pen, in the middle of taking notes on what's been going on and what information they've collected. Because he's a good student except for the fact he's not actually doing his homework for classes right now. Kon's not telling her that, though.

[Robin does try her best to pull the mom side back, though when it comes to Kon she wants to make sure he does his best. Now that she's on the app the things she considered normal doesn't feel as normal anymore.

Nothing of particular interest. I was thinking that I should try to give a sense of optimism to someone, but I'm not quite certain how to go about it.

Well, one suggestion is to mention the positive of whatever is happening. Even if the person is or isn't aware about the consequences of their actions, find the positive of whatever is happening. Let them know that even if things aren't working in their favor now it will soon.

So... lie.

It's not lying when you point out the positive things that can happen cause they're there. Sometimes it takes a little longer to see it, but it's there.

Hm. I don't think that I could find the positive, but I could find "the neutral" of the situation.

That can work as well, as long as the negatives aren't pointed out. There are plenty neutrals to a situation can help put it in perspective.

But ah, that doesn't make anyone happy, does it? I suppose I'm not the kind of person that can help others find happiness.

Well, it depends on the person. Sometimes pointing out the positives is something one person needs while pointing out the neutral can help out someone else. It's the matter of giving another perspective, showing the person that there are other sides available to them. It can help during the times where it's hard to see any other options.

There you are pointing out the positives. You won't humor the idea that I simply am someone who can offer little comfort to anyone?

It's easy to do when explaining optimism. It's hard for me to believe when you ask about optimism. It makes me curious about why you're wondering about such a topic you have no interest in.
Has something happened to bring about such a topic?

It's true. I have no real interest in it, but I've found myself in a situation where I should lift up others. An accident of sorts happened and my usual response doesn't offer much in the way of comfort.

I can simply cut my emotions off if a situation is stressful enough in order to seek out the best solution to a problem. However, I understand not everyone can do that, or will take time to be able to do the same. In that time, they find themselves more stressed and cornered. I don't necessarily want others to follow suit with what I do to find an answer to a problem, because while this helps me remain logical and calm, it can make a bad situation worse for others.

That is why out of a moment of rationality I decided to seek out "optimism."

How kind of you to help out others around you feel a level of comfort. I know it may sound like I'm teasing, but I do believe it's nice of you to want to help others like this. Optimism can be very helpful in keeping a person's spirits up. Everyone can give comfort in their own way.

Do you have any ideas on how you're going to comfort them? I can provide some more ideas, if you would like them.

It is only what is fair. If someone comes to me and has to stay in my care, I feel somewhat obligated to ensure that they leave it no worse than when they came in.

Well, I'm not that warm of a person. I have the common sense to know how to comfort a person -- say something nice, hold their hand, that sort of behavior.

It may be fair, but it is something you choose to do. You're providing a level of comfort to them too, which is nice.

You don't find it insincere?

You're making an effort to show care despite it not being in line with your beliefs, that doesn't sound insincere to me.

That kind view of yours is going to get you disappointed in others one day.

Perhaps, I suppose I'll continue to follow it, until that day comes.

Well, if it means anything, I doubt that day will come. Because humans are too interesting in the way that they see the world.

[He sets the flowers on a nearby table, and hurries over to her bedside. Though he's happy to see her it's obvious he's worried. With his husband being invisible and all and then his teacher getting stabbed, he's a bit anxious.]
